Akiena Louis is a Poet, Artist, Actor and Published Author born in Nyack, New York. She moved to North Carolina with her mother and siblings where she spent her late adolescent/teenage years. In Art classes is where she discovered how much she loved creating.
An UNCG Alumna, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater and Concentration in Dance and African American studies. Once Graduated Akiena moved to New York City to pursue her dreams.
The poetry classes she took in college is what inspired her to take the pages of her notebook and release a published body of work. Her debut book “My Inside Thoughts Are Poetry” (2018) was Akiena’s first introduction to the world as a published Writer/Author.
Her second literature birth, a phenomenal book of poetry and divine thoughts “Like a flower needs sunlight” (2022) is bringing more awareness to her voice, vulnerability and poetic prophecies as a poet on the rise.
Writing became a form of release and healing that led to her finding her voice. She encourages others to use poetry and journaling as a way of deep introspection. Akiena’s work as an Oracle began the moment she started the inward journey of healing herself by sharing her authentic creative expression. As a being of love, she honors her existence using art, poetry, acting, and music as her mediums to inspire self determination and living from the healed heart space.

“My Inside Thoughts Are Poetry” can be found on the shelf at Namaste Bookshop in Manhattan making her the first Black poet to be sold on the shelf at that establishment. Selling hundreds of copies worldwide independently her book landed on the bookshelf of celebrities such as Laurence Fishburne. My Inside Thoughts Are Poetry Book’s impact has allowed Akiena to inspire Writer’s Global and Internationally.

From studying at the New York Performing Arts Academy, to graduating from the Atlantic Acting School Spring Intensive/Evening Conservatory Program (2020), Teaching Art, Literature, Theater, Mentoring Girl Groups, Hosting Writing Workshops, Performing Spoken Word, E&J Brandys featured poet for National Black Poetry Day (2021), 28 Shades of Black Magic featured Artist (2021), and featured Poet for AJ MCQueen open verse social media challenge to write about black love (2023)
Once Akiena made the mental energetic shift to believe in herself and take her passions seriously (knowing that her poetry is a gift from God) is when she began to receive more divine opportunities in alignment with Purpose. She believes that purpose isn’t something to be chased, it comes from honoring the divinity inside of you.
